The University of Kentucky Trap and Skeet Club helps students learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, and much more. The activities of the program provide students with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethic.
The long range plans included hosting an invitational shotgun competition to include skeet, trap, and sporting clays. This shoot would allow us to showcase the University Shooting Program in both local and regional media; contributing to the growth and understanding of the clay target sport.
Success can be measured in many ways. Whether those participating do so for recreational purposes only or for awards competition, much can be achieved by being active in the Shooting Sports Program. Friends, life experience and a deeper understanding of oneself are just some of what people gain by participating in our club.
One of our own members put it best when he said:
I’ve enjoyed my time here with this club. Traveling the country, meeting new people and making friends from all over; the things I’ve gotten to do and see; what I’ve learned about the sport and all the different relationships involved in running this club. I’ve gained so much. And I want this club to be here for my kids when they come to college.
