Welcome To The UK Anime Club Website!

What is UK Anime you ask? Well, it is a club at the University of Kentucky, dedicated to Japanese animation and comics (known as Anime & Manga). Our mission is to increase the awareness of Anime & Manga as well as Japanese culture around UK's campus and the Lexington area.

We meet in the Student Center on the UK campus. You can find directions on our FAQ page. Our meetings start at 6 PM on Tuesdays while classes are in session (this includes midterm and finals weeks). We show all of our anime using a quality video projector & powered speakers so everyone can enjoy the anime. We throw many parties throughout the year as well. Our meetings end at 10 PM (when the student center closes) and we try our best to show at least 7 episodes of a series in the 4 hours our meetings last. We start with club business at the beginning of the meeting and hopefully by 6:30 PM we head right into the showing. We may not have much business to discuss so be there on time if you do not want to miss anything.

Before our meetings many of us will hang out in the meeting room. We encourage everyone to come early and talk about stuff before the meeting. During this time we may have music, videos and/or preview anime running to entertain those who like to lurk rather then talk. However we would love to talk with you. The club library will be open before each meeting from 5:45 pm - 6 - 6:15 pm (depending on how bored the officers get), and again during intermission. You can return items anytime during the meetings as long as you hand the items to an officer. For a full list of rules and listing of library items check out the library page.

On the topic of membership:
Our showings are free to the public. Meaning that everyone can come and watch anime during our meetings. However, we do offer membership into the club. Membership gives you access to our extensive library, voting rights, and free entrance into club parties ($3 per party for non-members). Membership dues are $10 per semester or $15 for the whole year. You will receive a membership card when you pay that you should keep on you when checking items out from the library and attending club parties.
