In order to use the public Macintosh Labs, you
need a
"Systems Labs Macintosh" (SLMAC) account. The public
Mac labs include the Fine Arts, King, Journalism, and Young Labs.
In addition, these accounts can be used to log on to the Systems
Labs Macs in the CATS Lab and the student activities center in
the Student Center.
Students: Accounts can be created
via the UK Account Manager.
Log on with your link
blue userID and password. Under the "Choose Management
Option"
section, click the "Manage Other Student Accounts" link.
You will see a list of accounts that you currently have and the
status of those accounts. If you are eligible to create additional
accounts, that option will appear below the list.
If you need an account that does not
appear in your list of current accounts and you are not given the
option to create it yourself, contact the IS
Helpdesk at 257-1300.
Faculty, staff, and others: You
will need to fill out a request
form to receive a computer lab account. For a Macintosh account,
fill in "Systems Labs Macintosh" on one of the blank lines. Please
see your department secretary or the IS Customer Service Center
for more assistance. You must do this before the first day of any
class that you wish to teach in a lab or you will not have access
to the computer system when you arrive.
Non-UK persons: Student computer accounts
are not available for persons who are not associated with UK. This
includes students at BCTC schools who do not have pre-existing
accounts. Exceptions are made for visiting lecturers, workshop
attendees, or other persons who are sponsored by a faculty member
or a department and who will be using the equipment for academic
purposes for a limited time. To get more information or to request
an account for a non-UK person that you are sponsoring, please
email our systems administrators at macadm @ ewl.uky.edu at least one
week in advance
of the visit.
