as part of my work in university of kentucky's gaines fellowship in the humanities, i have spent the last year researching the music of morton feldman, an american experimental composer and member of a group of composers now referred to as the new york school. what appears here is the culmination of this research and questioning into the aesthetic dimensions of his music. as part of my research i travelled to new hampshire where i sat with fellow new york school composer christian wolff for a few hours to discuss the life and music of his friend. that discussion appears transcribed in this site and is accessible through a link above.
