JSET Article Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology Services

AT Outcomes The AT Outcomes website and listserv, developed and maintained by the The Adaptive Technology Resource Centre at the University of Toronto in Canada, are dedicated to the development, evaluation and application of valid, reliable and sensitive outcome measure tools. Sections of the website include: information on the AToutcomes Listserv, a list of Outcome Measurement Tools, Who is doing What, Where, Bibliography/Web Resources and Upcoming Events.

CSUN The California State University at Northridge Center of Disabilities provides information the CSUN Conference and Assistive Technology Training and multiple resources pertaining to technology and services to individuals with disabilities.

connSENSE Bulletin The connSENSE Bulletin and Website are dedicated to sharing practical resources on assistive technology that help individuals with disabilities. It contains recent articles, Washington updates, resources reviews, links, and conference information. Extensive archives of previous issues of the connSENSE Bulletin are archived on the Web site. Look for older articles, Washington updates, resources, etc. in the "Archives." Sign up for the free Email newsletter.

Closing the Gap Includes information about the Closing the Gap Conference and Newspaper dedicated to the use of computer technology for people with disabilities. Contains a searchable resource directory, information from the field, and a multiple resources.

Closing the Gap Essential Bookmark Collection Collection of web resources designed to address the information demands of assistive technology coordinators and leaders as they go about their work.

Computer Accessibility Technology Packet This packet, developed by Richard Riley, contains information and guidelines on making technology accessible to all students.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) International professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

Engaging Differences The purpose of the University of Kentucky Engaging Differences (UK-ED) Project is to develop, implement, and evaluate a web-based performance support system for higher education administrators, instructional personnel, and campus auxiliary service http://jset.unlv.edu/15.4/Zabala/first.html personnel working with students with disabilities. This Web site provides descriptive information about the project, the activities that are being conducted, findings from the research that has been completed, and information and resources about postsecondary education and students with disabilities.

Georgia Project for Assistive Technology GPAT develops and enhances local expertise in assistive technology to ensure that students with disabilities have access to the assistive technology devices and services that they need in order to participate in and benefit from their educational programs. This site contains a rich bank of resources, forms and links that can be accessed by anyone.

ideapractices Site addresses IDEA '97, the new regs, law-related resources, events, monthly news briefs, effective practices and ideas that work, case studies from schools and programs implementing promising practices, and links to the outstanding IDEA-related web sites.

JSET Online The Journal of Special Education Technology is the peer-reviewed research and practice journal of the Technology and Media Division of the Council for Exceptional Children. This free online version is available to all interested in scholarly work on various aspects of assistive technology.

NCIP The National Center to Improve Practice (NCIP), located at Education Development Center, Inc., was funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs from 1992-1998. Though the project has ended, this site contains a wealth of resources and links to other sites of interest.

NICHCY The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY) is an information and referral clearinghouse that provides information pertaining to children and youth with disabilities and disability-related issues to parents, professionals, and the public

Oregon Technology Access Program (OTAP) The Oregon Technology Access Program is sponsored by the the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and provides resources, direct training, on-site technical assistance and a loan program to parents, teachers and related services staff in Oregon. The web site can be accessed by anyone and provides information, links, an and a variety of resources.

OSEP The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is a component of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS). OSEP's mission and organization focus on the free appropriate public education of children and youth with disabilities from birth through age 21

OSERS The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), a component of the United States Department of Education, supports programs that assist in educating children with special needs, provides for the rehabilitation of youth and adults with disabilities, and supports research to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.

OTAP Forum This is a moderated discussion forum developed and maintained by the Oregon Technology Access Program.

Technology and Media Division(TAM) of CEC TAM promotes collaboration among educators and others interested in using technology and media to assist individuals with exceptional educational needs. This site focuses on disseminating relevant and timely information through the web about TAM activities and initiatives,research, professional meetings, training programs, and publications.

University of Kentucky SERC Internet Resources Access links to hundreds of Web sites that provide information about a wide variety of topics related to special education and rehabiliation, including assistive technology; Obtain information about specific disabilities; Access special education professional organizations and government agencies.

University of Kentucky Assistive Technology (UKAT) Project Descriptive information about the UKAT Project, the activities that are being conducted, and findings from the research that has been completed. It also provides information about assistive technology resources, how to obtain assistive technology technical assistance, and ways to participate in the research that is being conducted.

UKAT: A Functional Approach to Assistive Technology Descriptive information and a detailed model for using a functional approach to the design and development of assistive technology services.

UKAT: Assistive Technology Policy Checklist Details of thirteen elements the authors believe should be considered when analyzing or developing school policies concerning the use of assistive technology. Items subsumed by each element in the checklist can be used as general criteria to guide policy development and analysis of existing policies.

Wisconsin Assistive Technology Initiative (WATI) WATI is designed to increase the capacity of school districts to provide assistive technology services by making training and technical assistance available to teachers, therapists, administrators and parents throughout Wisconsin. WATI resources and forms are available on the web, along with a wealth of other information that can be accessed by anyone.
