Purpose:QIAT Summit '99, consisted of a series of work sessions during which participants worked collaboratively in large and small groups to:
- Deepen understanding of the purpose, scope, and potential uses of the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology Services
- Identify additional Functional Areas and Quality Indicators needed for comprehensive coverage
- Determine a maximum number of Quality Indicators that could be written for each Functional Area
- Revise, refine, and expand existing Functional Areas and Quality Indicators
- Set groundwork for development of practical examples to assist with implementation of each Quality Indicator
- Plan for continuation of collaborative QIAT work
Expected Results:
During QIAT Summit '99, it was expected that:
- Expanded drafts of "Version C" of the Quality Indicators for existing Functional Areas would be developed and accepted by the group, as per guidelines developed by the group
- Initial drafts of new Functional Areas would be developed and accepted by the group
- Leadership team members and responsibilities would be designated to provide leadership for the continuation of the work in a timely manner
- Next Steps in the ongoing would be clearly defined and understood by all
Evaluation:
Summit '99 was considered successful because, by its close:
- Expanded drafts of Functional Areas were developed and accepted by the group
- Leadership team members and responsibilities were identified and accepted
- A Next Steps Plan for continuing work was developed and shared
Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology Services in six Functional Areas: Administration, Consideration, Assessment, IEP Development, Implementation, Evaluation of Effectiveness. Quality Indicators in each Area are limited to seven in number.
