University of Wisconsin Colleges: University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County campus (Baraboo, WI) AND University of Wisconsin-Richland Center campus (Richland Center, WI).  The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. in Philosophy required prior to the August 26, 2007 starting date.  Two classes each semester will be taught on each campus, which are 60 miles apart. Travel between campuses may be compensated. The University of Wisconsin Colleges are Freshman/Sophomore transfer campuses within the University of Wisconsin System where the emphasis is upon Socratic dialogue in classes capped at thirty students. Faculty at the Baraboo campus teach one course every other year at the Oxford Federal Correctional Institution.  Normal course load is 12 credit hours per semester. AOS: Open; AOC: Open but the successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics and Logic.   The UW Colleges also is interested in strengthening our curriculum in one or more of the following areas: Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy and Racism, Philosophy and Literature, Philosophy of Religion. Research and publication within a pluralistic department are expected, as is participation in faculty governance and community and/or professional service. The starting salary is $42,000.  Summer session offers additional opportunities for compensation.
